Speaking to The Athletic, the 24-year-old affirmed his contentment at Newcastle two years after signing. “I’m in good form and playing well back home in Newcastle,” Isak said. “I feel good and am enjoying my football. I always give my all for the national team and believe goals and results will come for me and Sweden.”
He added, “I enjoy playing as a No 9, but I also like the freedom to drift out left where I feel comfortable and can create chances. I don’t think too much about the position.”
Newcastle is progressing contract talks with Isak, aiming to make him the highest-paid player at the club. The prospect of losing Isak this summer worried Newcastle fans, given his impressive 21 goals in the Premier League. Finding a replacement would be challenging and costly, potentially setting back Howe’s project. Instead, it appears Isak is happy at Newcastle, and the club is eager to secure him with an improved deal.
