“Sky Sports Drops Another Kudus Transfer Bombshell”

Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg has delivered unsettling news for West Ham supporters regarding Mohammed Kudus’ contract with the Hammers. It has been widely known that Kudus has an £85m release clause in his West Ham contract, which was thought to be active only for one month in July 2025, during next summer’s transfer window.

However, Sky Germany’s transfer insider Plettenberg has now revealed that the Ghanaian’s release clause is already active!

This revelation marks a significant departure from recent reports and what Claret & Hugh believed. West Ham typically includes such clauses in the second year of a player’s contract, as seen with Lucas Paqueta, making this news surprising.

On his social media account, Plettenberg stated: “Currently, there are no concrete offers for Mohammed Kudus on the table. Kudus has a release clause of £85 million this summer. Contract valid until 2028. Internally, the 23-year-old winger has not yet indicated that he definitely wants to leave the club.”

While it is reassuring that Kudus has not requested a move away from East London, the harsh reality is that if any club bids £85m for him, West Ham will be obliged to inform him. This development could be a major setback for the Hammers’ management, who are already trying to fend off interest in Edson Alvarez from Manchester United.
