And it seems as if midfield could well be an area which the Blues are looking to strengthen over the coming weeks.
Everton identify two midfielders they could sign this summer
Although Everton have enjoyed themselves in the market, so far, there may well be some concerns as to how many more players they could bring in.
The Friedkin Group’s takeover recently fell through which will, naturally, leave a strain on resources for the remaining weeks of the window.
Everton could always look to offload some players to create some revenue to invest back into their squad.
But Dyche will likely be wary given Everton have already sold Amadou Onana to Aston Villa just last month.
According to Brazilian outlet UOL, Everton are looking at Arthur Melo and Richard Rios as their two main midfield targets for the remainder of the window.
“Palmeiras stipulates about €15m (£12m) to negotiate for him. There are two English clubs at least above Richard Rios, Leicester and Everton. Everton also has an interest in Arthur Melo, former Gremio, former Juventus. He is leaning on Juventus with Thiago Motta now,” said journalist Bruno Andrade.
“But for now, Palmeiras put €15m as the minimum value to negotiate Richard Rios. But the idea is to hold to try to sell only at the end of the year, because he is valued. To reiterate, Palmeiras has 70% of the rights, then 14% for Guarani, 6% Flamengo and 10% for the player.”
Everton need to replace Amadou Onana after selling him
There has been one midfielder come through the doors this summer in the Aston Villa youngster Iroegbunam.
The 21-year-old impressed in the recent defeat against Coventry City but his Premier League experience having played less than 250 minutes in the top flight.
At this stage, it looks like the 21-year-old could be set to get the nod in midfield when the new season begins.
However, Everton could do themselves a big favour by adding an experienced figure like Arthur before the window shuts.
Losing Onana – despite being just 22-years-old – will be a big loss in terms of the presence in the Everton midfield, currently they have yet to replace him in the market.
