“Newcastle Snubs Barcelona’s Cast-Offs in Ambitious Swap Deal for Star ‘Obsession’!”

Reports indicate that Newcastle United have been proposed a cash-plus-player swap deal by FC Barcelona for Bruno Guimaraes. Since the Saudi-backed PIF takeover in 2021, Newcastle has heavily invested in the transfer market, with Guimaraes being one of their standout acquisitions. The Magpies spent around £40m to secure the Brazil international in the 2022 winter transfer window, outpacing Premier League rivals. Guimaraes has scored 17 goals and provided 16 assists in 106 appearances, becoming a fan favorite at St James’ Park.

Despite his success, Guimaraes has been linked with a summer move as Newcastle needs to offload players to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules. Although selling Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson for a combined £64m has helped, interest in Guimaraes remains high.

Guimaraes has expressed his contentment at Newcastle, stating, “I have a contract with Newcastle, I’m very happy. I know how much they like me and what I’ve been doing for the club. I’m happy here.” He acknowledged the Financial Fair Play considerations but reiterated his happiness at the club.

Arsenal, Man City, and PSG have been mentioned as potential destinations for Guimaraes, while a Spanish report claims Barcelona is “obsessed” with the midfielder. Newcastle has been in discussions with Barcelona about potential signings, including Ferran Torres and Raphinha. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe reportedly favors Raphinha, but Barcelona is pushing to include Torres, considered “dispensable,” in a cash-plus-player swap deal for Guimaraes.

The proposed offer is said to be worth around €65m (£55m) plus Torres, which is expected to be rejected given the £100m release clause in Guimaraes’ contract this summer.
