RMC Sport are reporting that Neymar’s (31) entourage are in continuous discussions with Chelsea over a potential move.
It was reported by L’Équipe earlier on Monday that the Brazilian international had informed Paris Saint-Germain’s management that he wants to leave the club this summer. Despite being reunited with former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique at PSG this summer, Neymar wishes to return to the Catalan club, but according to RMC Sport, a return to his former club is unlikely. Neymar’s salary is an issue for Barcelona, who are in financial difficulty. He also doesn’t fit into Xavi’s plans at the Catalan club, making a return unlikely.
A Brazilian club are interested, but Neymar wants to continue to feature in a competitive league making a return to his homeland unlikely as well. Chelsea remain a viable option for Neymar. The Premier League side are in continuous discussions with the player’s entourage, and given the English club’s considerable financial means, a move would be possible.
However, according to RMC Sport, the most likely option is that Neymar will remain at PSG this season. The Brazilian’s unwillingness to make a financial sacrifice could ultimately prevent him from making the desired move. PSG, on their part, are willing to make a move happen and are willing to take a financial hit on the player they bought for €222m back in 2017.
