Kalvin Phillips could be bought from Manchester City by Dan Friedkin this summer, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll end up at Everton.
GiveMeSport reported on 2 July that Friedkin is indeed interested in signing the England midfielder – but for Roma, the side he owns in Italy, rather than the Toffees.
The Blues have been significantly linked with the 28-year-old since it was made clear he had no future at Manchester City, but with Friedkin’s takeover of the club yet to be ratified, his other side could swoop in.

Toffees fans will argue that, given their respective league finishing positions last season, they need a player of Phillips’ quality far more than Roma do this summer.
The US billionaire has owned Roma since 2020, and while his takeover at Goodison Park is yet to be officially ratified, his share purchase agreement with Farhad Moshiri could soon be given the green light [Gazzetta dello Sport, 15 June].
With Sean Dyche a big fan of Phillips – a sentiment seemingly shared by Roma manager Daniele De Rossi – the decision could come down to the player himself, who may feel a move abroad could be beneficial.
