Former Newcastle United wonderkid Elias Sorensen is set for a second crack at English football after leaving St James’ Park three years ago.
The Danish forward captured the imagination of everyone on Tyneside when his impressive form for both the under-18s and under-23s led many to believe United had one of the best young forwards in the English game.
Sorensen bagged 20 goals in 24 appearances for the under-23s during the 2018/19 season and he was involved in the senior squad under both Rafa Benitez and Steve Bruce, without making a competitive appearance for the first team.
But the hype died down somewhat after unsuccessful loan spells with Blackpool, Carlisle United and Almere City and he was sold to Danish side Esbjerg in the summer of 2021.

However, the 24-year-old has enjoyed a resurgence of form in his homeland, scoring 26 goals and registering 15 assists last season to fire Esbjerg to promotion to the second tier of Danish football.
And that form has captured the attention of Portsmouth, who, according to reports, have had a bid of between £300,000-£400,000 accepted to bring him to the English Championship.
Pompey have just been promoted back to the second tier of English football and they are now gambling on the former Denmark under-21 international to score the goals to help to keep them there.
