Everton have enjoyed a summer wrought with new acquisitions, stunning this fanbase with the newfound depth now within the squad.
However, since bringing in Jake O’Brien, there has been an eery silence on the transfer front, likely signifying the well having dried up.
To buy now, despite the £50m sale of Amadou Onana, the Toffees will almost definitely have to sell, and that could prove a frustration given departures in most areas would severely thin out key areas within the squad.
One particular position of concern is up front, where fears remain that Dominic Calvert-Lewin could leave Everton amidst a contract stalemate and a deal that expires next summer.
However, perhaps it is his striking rival that could well make way instead, with his exit a very real proposition.

That is at least what Italian outlet Tutto Atalanta are reporting, seeking to detail the transfer plans of the Bergamo-based club on which they are named.
Having secured Champions League football once again, the Blue and Black outfit have already sought to strengthen this summer, with Everton’s Ben Godfrey one such acquisition.
However, they could now be set to return to Goodison Park for another asset, with Beto the latest target of their affection.
In fact, their interest is so intense that they are reportedly preparing a bid for the Portuguese striker, seeking to pry him for just €20m (£17m) despite Sean Dyche having paid £26m for him just the year prior.
The hulking marksman is considered a perfect fit for Gian Piero Gasperini, which could make their efforts to sign him even more concrete.
Everton cannot afford to lose Beto
There are many reasons why Dyche would not want to lose one of his chief marksmen, but paramount should be his visible adoration for Beto.
After all, despite preferring Calvert-Lewin throughout the Premier League campaign, he still found time to laud him, especially in the earlier months of his career on Merseyside.
The former Burnley boss once noted: ‘He’s adapted very quickly, done very well tonight. With all due respect, the Premier League is different, but he’s shown the rawness, the pace and the effect that he can have on a team.
‘It gives us something different, which is what we brought him here for.’
Not only that, but with Youssef Chermiti having recently undergone a foot operation, they cannot afford to remove another striker from the fold with no set date for the teenager’s return.
And finally, as aforementioned Calvert-Lewin’s contract dispute continues to confuse all involved.
There is every chance that Everton could be without all three of their strikers come the start of the new campaign, which commences in less than two weeks now.
For these reasons and many more, Beto cannot be allowed to leave this summer.
