David Moyes has been backed to take over from Sean Dyche and still has admirers in the boardroom at Everton, sources have told Football Insider.
However, speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that, despite a slow start to the season, Dyche still has plenty of credit in the bank at Goodison Park.
Given the constant turmoil both on and off the pitch at Everton, there is an admiration for the way the boss has dealt with matters and kept them in the Premier League.
Moyes, meanwhile, is taking time away from football after leaving West Ham, and has been tipped to look elsewhere rather than risk his good relationship at Goodison.
O’Rourke added that it would be a “shock” if the Toffees moved to appoint Moyes at this stage as they are expected to give Dyche more time.
Sources also say a managerial change is unlikely to take place before the ownership situation is sorted – with prospective buyers keen to have their own say.

Dyche has managed Everton 66 times since taking over from Frank Lampard in January 2023, helping to stabilise what looked to be a sinking ship.
During that time, he has dealt with the club facing multiple point deductions, the building of a new stadium, chaos in the boardroom and constant takeover talk.
Despite all of the outside factors, he has safely kept Everton in the Premier League against the odds and earned plenty of goodwill at Goodison Park.
However, speculation has ramped up about his future after opening this season with three consecutive league defeats – most recently a late 3-2 reversal against Bournemouth.
Moyes has been heavily tipped to take over should Dyche lose his job, with fans beginning to grow impatient and showing their frustrations at Goodison.
He remains one of the most well-respected managers in the club’s history, having managed 518 games between March 2002 and June 2013.
He left Goodison Park for the opportunity to become Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor at Manchester United, before spells at Real Sociedad and Sunderland saw him find his feet once more at West Ham.
Over two spells with the Hammers, he managed 261 matches, taking them from a relegation-battling team to Europa Conference League champions.

Everton supporters have taken note of how he helped West Ham transform into a team regularly battling for Europe and have now called for him to make a shock return.
However, while Dyche remains in charge, it would take a huge twist as things stand to see him removed from the dugout and replaced by Moyes.
