Indeed, the former Chelsea and Real Madrid coach has previously spoken about his love for Newcastle, considering his relationship with the great Sir Bobby Robson built earlier in his career.

Mourinho has been linked with Newcastle on and off for what feels like an age and reports last month suggested he had eyes on making a return to the Premier League despite only recently joining Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
A fresh link emerged on Friday too, suggesting that the 61-year-old was keen to move to St James’ Park if current boss Eddie Howe were to leave.
While certainly a huge name in the managerial world, Newcastle fans on social media spoke against the prospect of appointing Mourinho.
Luckily, it seems owners PIF have little desire to do so.

According to The Chronicle, chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan is delighted with the work Howe has done at Newcastle and continues to support him.

In fact, the links with Mourinho are said to have mystified those at the club.

That isn’t to say, however, that Howe is not under pressure. A club as ambitious at Newcastle simply does not afford such a luxury.
Indeed, PIF are believed to be targeting a top six finish in the Premier League this season, something they are said to have told Howe.
Still, having a set target is only natural and obviously does not mean the likes of Mourinho will be appointed if they do not reach it.
Mourinho’s time has passed. Little about what he’s done in the last few years suggests he’d be a wise appointment at Newcastle.
The longer Howe stays, the better.
