Newcastle United appear to have stumbled on a winning formula of late.
After a largely underwhelming start to the season, Newcastle have roared into form recently.

Indeed, wins over Chelsea and Arsenal raise fresh hope about the season ahead and Eddie Howe’s side head to high-flying Nottingham Forest on Sunday with a renewed sense of optimism.
Howe has tinkered with his team. Joelinton has been deployed as a left winger, with Joe Willock and Sean Longstaff either side of Bruno Guimaraes in midfield.
It will be fascinating to see what the Newcastle United manager does at the City Ground on Sunday but it would not be a surprise to see him stick with that kind of plan considering recent results.
That means Anthony Gordon looks in line to again start as a right winger, the position from which he delivered a stunning cross for Alexander Isak against the Gunners.

How Anthony Gordon now feels about his new role at Newcastle
Speaking on a video posted on YouTube, Hope said: “Gordon clearly believes, and I think he’s let this be known internally, [he’d like to play to be on the left.”
Before adding: “That’s where he believes he’s at his very best.”

It’s natural that Gordon would want to operate out on the left, particularly after enjoying such a strong season last time out.

Still, he’s showing little sign of being unhappy about the change in position. Howe, after all, was delighted with his attitude against Arsenal, talking up his work even aside from the stunning cross for Isak.
Newcastle are reportedly likely to try and sign a right winger in January, so it remains to be seen if this is a long-term strategy. For now, the signs are very promising indeed.
Howe’s system looks far better balanced than it did during the opening few weeks of the season as a result.
