Martin Keown absolutely lost it, rains words on Ange Postecoglou

Martin Keown has blasted Ange Postecoglou for his recent admission about zeroing in on Tottenham’s mole, with the Arsenal legend accusing the Australian of going on tangents rather than focusing on the important stuff.

Postecoglou is now a man under immense pressure, with various sources continuing to suggest that a managerial change is expected at Tottenham this summer.

Meanwhile, the Tottenham head coach is also trying to fight various other battles at N17, with his most recent one being an attempt to find the source of leaks from Hotspur Way.

Last week, Postecoglou admitted his suspicion that someone within Tottenham is leaking internal developments to the media.

The Australian spoke about the same thing for a second time a couple of days ago, with Postecoglou making it clear that the Tottenham mole is not a player and explaining that the club will deal with things internally once the leak is found.

Martin Keown accuses Ange Postecoglou of creating Tottenham mole drama
Keown has not taken kindly to the fact that the Tottenham boss has been elaborating publicly on the mole instead of focusing on ways to improve his side’s performances.

The former Arsenal centre-back insisted that the 59-year-old is doing himself no favours by making these things public, insisting that someone has to tell the Tottenham head coach to keep his mouth shut.

When asked about Postecoglou’s comments, Keown told talkSPORT (14 April, 12:11 pm): “If I’m the manager of the football club, none of this gets out. I’m not fanning the flames of this individual, who wants to let things out.

“At most clubs, there are people who let things out. If there’s a mole, it’s poor, but it can happen. [If I’m him] I’m keeping about what’s going on on the pitch. It’s a distraction, more cannon fodder for the media. Don’t feed the media, feed the supporters with results on the pitch.

“He’s going off on tangents too often. These are all red lights flashing around him, but the green light is what he should focus on. Go after success. Everything is a drama. He needs someone with him to tell him to keep his mouth shut on some things. Don’t get drawn in by the media.”

Postecoglou will have his reasons for going public about the mole
One can understand the theme of Keown’s criticism as Postecoglou tends to talk about a lot of stuff in his press conferences that does neither him nor Tottenham any favours.

However, on this occasion, his decision to go public might have been strategic to let the Tottenham mole, as well as his contacts in the media, know that he and others at the club are onto them.
