A transfer update that emerged from Brazil on Sunday [8 December] suggests that the two parties may have to sit at the negotiation table once again, albeit for a different matter this time.
Everton contact Igor Jesus, John Textor-owned Botafogo have demands
According to UOL journalist Felipe Silva, the Goodison Park outfit have contacted Igor Jesus about signing him in the January transfer window.
However, it is worth noting that the Brazil international is contracted to Botafogo, who are owned by Textor, until 2027.
This means Everton will have to negotiate with Textor if they want to add the centre-forward to their ranks for the second half of the season.
The US billionaire wanted to take Jesus to Merseyside if he managed to reach an agreement with Moshiri over the takeover [Alan Nixon], but it remains to be seen what his stance will be now.
Meanwhile, Everton are not the only club interested in the former Shabab Al-Ahli frontman, with Wolves and Nottingham Forest also in the mix.
Forest were told it would take at least £16.6million to acquire Jesus’ services, meaning Sean Dyche’s side would have to fork out a similar sum.
Whether Textor’s involvement in takeover talks will act in Dyche’s favour or not is anyone’s guess.
