Evan Ferguson available for January transfer as Everton move on cards

Everton are one of the clubs spotted to be linked with Brighton striker Evan Ferguson ahead of January, Dean Jones has said.

The journalist has revealed links to the Republic of Ireland international, who has been made available to leave the AMEX Stadium on loan next month.

Beto has been linked with a move away from Goodison in the coming months [Spazio Inter, 16 December], with doubts also surrounding Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Speaking on the Ranks FC podcast [18 December], Jones said: “He’s available on loan from Brighton in the second half of the season. At the moment, Ferguson, when you’re looking at links, it’s looking like Leicester or Everton or Southampton.”

Everton need Evan Ferguson transfer in January

Sean Dyche might be spoilt for choice in the number nine position with Armando Broja’s return from fitness issues, but the Englishman hasn’t been able to rely on his other strikers.

Calvert-Lewin has been the first-choice centre-forward this season, but the 27-year-old has found the back of the net just twice in 15 Premier League appearances.

Beto has been unable to move ahead of the England international in the pecking order, and his underwhelming stint at the Merseyside outfit seems to be coming to an end.

Everton are in a relegation battle at the moment, sitting 16th in the table, three points above 18th-place Ipswich Town.

The Blues have scored the second-fewest goals in the English top flight in the current campaign, and it’s clear that they need to add firepower to their squad.

Ferguson broke onto the scene a couple of seasons back but has struggled for game time under Fabian Hurzeler, making it the perfect opportunity for the Toffees to pounce on his signature.
