The Friedkin Group have made their first significant appointment at Everton as board member named

Everton fans have finally reached the day they have been waiting for as the club is set to change hands.

Farhad Moshiri’s time on Merseyside has come to an end and after well over a year of trying, The Friedkin Group have been handed the keys.

The Friedkins wanted a subtle takeover announcement at Everton with a clear understanding that there is serious work to be done now.

However, there will be natural excitement around the club with a new lease of life being provided to the Toffees.

And the new owners have now already made their first significant appointment to the Everton board.

The Friedkin Group appoint Marc Watts as Everton board lead

A big decision has already been made as The Friedkin Group will back Kevin Thelwell as the club’s director of football.

This comes after weeks of speculation surrounding his position at Everton with the new ownership looming.

And on Thursday morning, it was claimed by one Everton insider that the Friedkins have already appointed one new member to the club’s board.

Indeed, President of The Friedkin Group, Marc Watts has been selected to lead the board at Goodison Park for the new owners.

It will be interesting to see whether Watts is one of the faces at Goodison on the weekend with The Friedkin Group set to attend the Chelsea game on Sunday.

There are still plenty of big decisions needing to be made, but it is clear the new owners are arriving having had plenty of time to consider their options.

Sean Dyche is the Friedkins’ biggest Everton decision

With Thelwell receiving the Friedkins’ backing, it now provides a really interesting debate as to whether Sean Dyche is going to be offered their support.

As the January transfer window is just days away from opening it feels as if a decision needs to be made fairly quickly.

It has been claimed The Friedkin Group have eyed David Moyes to replace Dyche at Goodison, but results have began to pick up for the Toffees recently.

Regardless of whether they stick or twist, it would be wise for the new owners to make their decision ahead of the January window so the Everton manager – whoever that is – can bring in their own players.
