Spanish giants Atletico Madrid looking for a surprise move for Tottenham star forward

Tottenham Hotspur skipper Heung Min Son has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane given his contract situation with the North Londoners leaving it till very late to secure his services for the next season, and multiple clubs from across Europe and the Middle East are looking to take advantage of the situation.

The 32-year-old who entered the history books at Spurs last week has been a massive presence in the dressing room at Hotspur Way, and the Lilywhites supporters have been sweating over his future as speculations linking the South Korean away from North London grow with every passing week.

There also have been reports suggesting that Son’s camp is unhappy at Daniel Levy’s decision to take up a one-year option in the player’s contract over negotiating a potential new deal.

Atletico looking to bring Son to Spain

Looking at the situation, La Liga giants Atletico Madrid have now expressed interest in landing the veteran winger, per Fichajes, as they look to take advantage of his expiring contract and the possibility to land him on a free transfer.

Given the growing interest from clubs like Atletico Madrid and Manchester United, there is a massive pressure on Daniel Levy to try and get out of this contract situation, and while triggering the one-year option in the South Korean’s contract will offer a short-term solution, it will still leave the supporters and the player unhappy given how much value Son has brought to White Hart Lane.

And if this were to lead to any potential departure, it will represent a significant loss at N17, which will not just be in terms of Son’s contributions on the field but also his presence as a leader in the dressing room at Hotspur Way.
