Aston Villa got an emphatic victory over Manchester City at home on Saturday in the Premier League, with one player in particular running the show.
Pep Guardiola’s team have not been at their best in recent months, but the same can be said for the Villans, who managed to get the better of the reigning league champions on 21 December with a 2-1 win.

Jhon Duran opened the scoring for the Villans in the first half, giving Unai Emery’s team the impetus going into the break.
Villa Park then witnessed a magnificent strike from Morgan Rogers as he beat Stefan Ortega in the 65th minute.
Phil Foden got on the scoresheet for the visitors, but it was a mere consolation for Man City as they were handed another defeat.
While every player deserves credit for that performance, one star was a cut above the rest: Rogers.

The England international’s display was one-of-a-kind against Guardiola’s team, leading to Andy Gray giving him some amazing recognition.
Speaking on beIN SPORTS 1 [21 December, 14:31], the Scotsman said: “Rogers has been an absolute sensation.
“I’ve not seen a player in recent years run better with the ball at his feet. He’s absolutely sensational.”
Against Man City, the Aston Villa midfielder had 86 per cent passing accuracy, played four passes in the final third, created two chances and completed three of his dribbles, as per FotMob.
Away from scoring and assisting, the England international had a 100 per cent tackle success rate and made one clearance.

Indeed, he was superb defensively as he also registered three recoveries and won six of his duels, while being fouled himself a couple of times.
With a combined xG and xA of 0.93, Rogers outdid himself during the match as the Lions secured three crucial points.
The Villans are lucky to have such a prospect, and Emery can build the team around the Englishman in the years to come.
