As important as £18m man is for West Ham, he has absolutely no future in Graham Potter’s system

West Ham United head coach Graham Potter may well have a difficult decision to make this summer.

Graham Potter will have to oversee plenty of change amongst the playing staff at the London Stadium, if he is to achieve success with West Ham.

There are too many players at the club right now who are simply not good enough to implement the gaffer’s ideas.

Graham Potter will completely revamp his West Ham squad this summer.

There will be players leaving who the Hammers fans will be glad to see the back of.

However, there might just be one or two players who are hugely popular at the club moved on as well.
Tomas Soucek has no future at West Ham United Graham Potter

Czech ace Tomas Soucek is a hugely popular figure amongst the fans at the London Stadium.

He is a crucial player for the Hammers, and has scored more winners for us than any other current member of the squad.

However, the the manner in which he operates can be detrimental to how his team progress the ball in transition.

Leeds want to sign Tomas Soucek from West Ham this summer, and I truly believe he should be moved on.

It sounds crazy to even suggest that because, let’s face it, Soucek is one of the few West Ham players who actually cares.

However, if Potter is to have any chance of succeeding at the London Stadium with his possession-based footballing philosophy, then the former Slavia Prague man will have to be sent packing this summer.

In 29 Premier League outings for the Hammers this season, he has averaged a pass completion rate of 73.4%. He has made just 66 progressive passes during those games as well – an abysmal tally for a central midfielder (FBREF).

He slows us down in transition when he receives the ball due to his inability to take it on the half-turn and progress the play.

I’m convinced that Soucek does not have a future in a possession based system.
Which Premier League club are ready to pay big for Tomas Soucek

Soucek joined West Ham on a permanent £18 million deal in the summer of 2020 (WHUFC.com), having spent the previous five months on loan at the London Stadium.

He has been brilliant for us on the whole, and the fans adore his attitude.

The 30-year-old Hammers midfielder would clearly be a great signing for a lot of Premier League clubs.

And it seems like he could be set for a big transfer away from the London Stadium this summer.

An unnamed Premier League club is said to be ready to pay Tomas Soucek £120k-a-week in order to tempt him into leaving West Ham.

That club surely has to be Everton. David Moyes was a huge fan of the Czech Republic international during his time in charge of the Hammers.

And Graham Potter will surely let Tomas Soucek link up with the former West Ham manager this summer.

He works his socks off, but his lack of ability in possession could end up being detrimental to the team’s hopes of achieving success under Potter.
