Tottenham Hotspur wide forward Son Heung-min has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane given the South Korean’s contract situation at Hotspur Way and how multiple sides from across Europe and the Middle East are ready to pounce on his signature on a free transfer.
The former Bayer Leverkusen winger’s contract at Tottenham is due at the end of the ongoing 2024/25 campaign, and there have been reports about the North Londoners wanting their star player to keep put at N17 into his late 30s; however, an agreement among all parties isn’t close, with Son unhappy amid uncertainty over his long-term future.
King don’t understand why Tottenham haven’t offered Son a new deal
The Lilywhites do have an option to extend his contract for another year, and it’s one that Spurs do intend to exercise, albeit any possible extension is yet to be made official. And former North Londoners scout Bryan King, speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, expressed his surprise over why the option isn’t exercised yet. He said:
“This should have been sorted out three or four months ago. It is ridiculous. This is a player of quality who has given his football career to Tottenham. Since he joined the football club, up until the present day, there couldn’t have been a better servant.
“Watching the way he has played recently, I question whether 100 percent of his heart is still at Tottenham because I’d certainly feel aggrieved if I were him. I’m not sure whether Son is happy at the moment. How many years has he been at the football club? And he’s been a star virtually from day one.”
Looking at the ongoing situation, multiple Saudi Pro clubs have started to take notice, and at the moment, this is one of the urgent situations that needs to be resolved soon to ensure that off-field uncertainties don’t affect Son’s performances on the pitch going into the second half of the season.
