Newcastle could be without seven players vs Man Utd as Amorim handed huge boost

Manchester United host in-form Newcastle on Monday as they look to avoid a fourth consecutive defeat.
The Reds have suffered defeats to Tottenham, Bournemouth and Wolves since beating rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on December 15. They will now face a Newcastle side who have won four matches in a row, conceding just one goal during that run.
But Eddie Howe’s side have several selection issues to deal with for their trip to M16. At least seven players are a doubt for the game at Old Trafford on Monday evening.
Striker Callum Wilson has a hamstring injury and is not set to return until February as is centre-back Jamaal Lascelles who has a knee injury. Goalkeeper Nick Pope is another player suffering with a knee problem and is potentially out until Janaury.

Defenders Emil Krafth and Sven Botman are also set to be out until the new year. Two other defenders, Valentino Livramento and Kieran Trippier, are doubts for the game, although Howe is optimistic for the pair.
“It was a very strong performance from Kieran,” Howe said after the Boxing Day win over Aston Villa. “He’s been waiting patiently. The little cameos he’s had in recent weeks. Have certainly helped him get his feeling back and get his rhythm back.
“He’s a vastly-experienced player and I’d no doubt today that he would do well. The only question mark was how long would he last due to a lack of game-time. But I thought he did very well when he was on the pitch, so let’s see how he reacts to the game.
On Livramento, he added: “It was an illness issue, but fingers crossed he’ll be okay for Man United.”
