Urbano Cairo, the president of Torino is offering £5.7million to sign Everton striker Beto in January, according to Calciomercato.
The news outlet reported on 1 January that the Toffees want more for the Portuguese forward and the Torino sporting director Davide Vagnati is working to bridge the gap.
The 26-year-old wants to be playing more and is open to leaving Goodison Park this month.
Everton will never accept that low an offer for Beto
Given the context of Beto’s move to Goodison Park for £25.75million in August 2023, per Sky Sports, it’s highly unlikely that the club would accept an offer of £5.7million from Torino for him, especially considering his age and potential even though his performances have been far from spectacular.
Beto, at 26, has yet to reach his peak, which is typically expected in the late 20s for strikers.
Despite not being a regular starter at Everton, his value remains significant due to his physical attributes, experience in multiple leagues and the potential for growth.
The Toffees’ reluctance to accept such a low bid also stems from the need to maintain financial stability and avoid selling assets at a loss, especially under the scrutiny of financial fair play rules.
Moreover, with Beto expressing a desire for more playing time, the Merseyside outfit would aim to negotiate a fee that reflects both his market value and the investment made in him.
It remains to be seen if Torino will be willing to up their offer for the 26-year-old in the next week or two.
