A Day to Forget: Mykolenko’s Woeful Display Against Bournemouth
Everton’s 1-0 loss to Bournemouth was a tough pill to swallow for the Toffees faithful. Sean Dyche’s side played an awful attacking game at vitalis. One player who came in for particular criticism was left-back Vitaliy Mykolenko.
Signed from Dynamo Kyiv in January 2022, Mykolenko was expected to bring a level of quality and consistency to Everton’s backline. However, against Bournemouth, the Ukrainian international had a day to forget.

In the second half as well he was caught up twice one leading to the goal while the other he was lucky enough as the winger played the ball wide of the post.

Mykolenko’s attacking prowess was also severely lacking against Bournemouth. Despite being a left-back, he failed to provide any meaningful width or delivery from the flank. His crosses were consistently overhit or underhit, and he rarely looked like beating his man to deliver a telling ball into the box.
In fact, Mykolenko’s most notable contribution in the attacking third was a wayward shot that sailed high over the bar. It was a moment that summed up his frustration and lack of composure on the ball.
