New reports from Saudi Arabia concern the future of Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.
Dubravka is attracting serious interest from Saudi Pro League outfit Al Shabab, with one Riyadh-based newspaper claiming last week he has already agreed personal terms over a move.
Less than two days into the January transfer window and there are fresh noises surrounding the Slovakian. As per Asharq Al-Awsat, Al Shabab have reached an agreement with Newcastle to buy Dubravka out of his contract, which expires on June 30.

The publication adds that the deal is “awaiting the approval of the Financial Sustainability Committee before the official signing between the parties.”
The Slovakian has started the last five matches for the Magpies in Nick Pope’s absence, equalling in five wins, four clean sheets and just one goal conceded. He has also been regularly praised for his distribution.
United boss Eddie Howe recently admitted Dubravka’s future isn’t “clear cut” but added it “wouldn’t make sense” to sanction his exit whilst Pope is unavailable. Pope has a knee issue and while the suggestion is he’ll return later this month, there is no definitive date.
While admittedly there is a chance the 35-year-old could leave this month, it is unlikely to happen unless Pope is available.
“The Martin situation isn’t clear-cut so let’s wait and see what happens in the next few weeks,” Howe said last month.
“But he’s certainly doing very well, I’ve been pleased with his re-introduction into the team, I think he’s given us a calmness and composure and he’s made a couple of really good saves, let’s not forget his save at 1-0 against Ipswich, it was a big moment in the game.
“Delighted with how he is playing and yeah, he’s involved for us at the minute and is doing a great job.”
Dubravka joined Newcastle in January 2018, initially on loan from Sparta Prague, before completing a permanent move the following summer after helping to keep the club in the Premier League.
For the next four seasons, Dubravka established himself as Newcastle’s No.1, however has been second choice since Pope arrived from Burnley two and a half years ago.
