Everton have opened talks with Vitalii Mykolenko over a new deal, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Reporting via X on 4 January, the reliable transfer journalist revealed that discussions are ongoing with the Ukraine international.
The left-back’s current contract runs out at the end of next season and the Toffees are keen to retain his services beyond that period.
He has been in good form recently, with Matthew Upson dubbing his performance in the 0-0 draw against Arsenal on 14 December as “brave” [beIN Sports].

It has not been a month since The Friedkin Group completed the takeover of the Merseyside-based club, but they are already hard at work.
With the January transfer window now open, the new owners surely will have one eye on the market for potential new signings.
However, it appears they have not lost sight of the contract situations at Goodison Park as talks are now ongoing with Mykolenko over a fresh deal.
This means they could soon start negotiations with Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell, who both have their contracts expiring at the end of the current season.
While Thelwell is still rated highly on Merseyside, it is unclear if the Friedkins intend to retain Dyche’s services in the long run [The i].
Nevertheless, it is promising to see Everton considering giving Mykolenko a new contract before he enters the final year of his deal.
At 25, he is still to hit his peak and it would be disappointing to lose him at this point, let alone for a cut-price fee.
