Spurs fans might have expected Heung-min Son to be the player who made the cut, but it was actually a Tottenham centre-back.
It was not world champion and two-time Copa America winner Cristian Romero, but rather his defensive partner, Micky van de Ven who found a place in the side, with the Dutchman starting alongside France legend Patrick Battiston in the heart of the defence.
The 67-year-old was doing the exercise for The Daily Mail and he said about the Tottenham centre-back: “I’d go Van de Ven, I love him.”
Two former Tottenham stars also make Hoddle’s dream team
As one would expect, there was no shortage of Tottenham representation in the side, with the Spurs legend also picking another former Lilywhite star in his backline: Kyle Walker.
Tottenham fans will not be surprised to know that Hoddle’s former Spurs teammate, Ossie Ardiles also made the cut, starting in the middle of the park alongside Man United legend Bryan Robson.
The Argentine made 238 appearances in a Spurs shirt, scoring 16 times, and went on to manage the club during the 1993-94 season.
