Jose Mourinho taking the place of Sean Dyche as the Everton manager is believed to be doubtful, according to Alan Myers.
The Sky Sports reporter responded to speculation in a tweet on 8 January after fans began linking the the Portuguese coach to the role.
Rumours of a managerial change gained traction as betting odds on the ex-Chelsea boss replacing Dyche were dramatically slashed, leaving many fans convinced he was set to take charge at the club.
However, the reporter dismissed the speculation, replying on X: “I doubt that very much” when asked by a fan whether there was any truth to the rumours.

The former Real Madrid manager hasn’t held a role in England since his stint at Tottenham back in 2019.

Since then, he has managed Roma and Fenerbahce, adding to his extensive resume. This includes vast English experience from two spells at Chelsea and a period at Manchester United.
Everton fans have grown increasingly frustrated with current manager Dyche, as the Toffees languish in 16th place.
The football under Dyche has been uninspiring, with the team going goalless eight out of the last ten games.
Another potential candidate, Graham Potter, also could have brought excitement and fresh ideas to the role.
However, Potter is heading to West Ham after weeks of negotiations, removing him from Everton’s list of options.
The club’s new majority owners, The Friedkin Group (TFG), were initially reluctant to make immediate decisions about Dyche’s future, wanting to assess the situation carefully.
But with Everton staring down the barrel of another relegation battle, pressure is mounting for action.
A move for Mourinho would have been a bold and ambitious statement from the new ownership, signalling their intent to elevate the club.
However, such an appointment now appears increasingly unlikely, leaving fans uncertain about the next steps in this pivotal season.
