Sean Dyche sack: Gareth Southgate terms shared for Everton job

Everton have looked at Gareth Southgate as an option to replace Sean Dyche as their manager, according to TEAMtalk.

However, the outlet, reporting via their website on 7 January, add that the former England manager would only want to take charge of the Toffees at the start of next season.

The same goes for Massimiliano Allegri, who is also under consideration as a potential replacement for Dyche.

Meanwhile, Everton have stepped up their interest in Graham Potter after sped up efforts to hire him as a replacement for Julen Lopetegui.

Gareth Southgate to reject Everton approach

The report does not mention if Everton have approached Southgate to discuss if he would interested in a move to Goodison Park now.

However, it appears the former Aston Villa defender is not keen on the idea of starting a new job midway through the season.

Therefore, the 54-year-old is prepared to wait until the end of the season to decide on his future.

The Toffees may have been willing to do that had Dyche proved that he is the man to keep them in the Premier League this term.

Instead, the Merseyside-based club find themselves sitting 16th in the Premier League after 19 games, with only a point separating them from the relegation, although they have a game in hand.

West Ham’s interest in Potter may also be another reason why The Friedkin Group-owned club are giving serious thought to sacking Dyche right now.

It remains to be seen if they can convince Southgate to change his stance if they indeed decide to sack the former Burnley boss.
