Everton sack Sean Dyche hours before FA Cup third-round game and have already ‘named his replacement’

Everton have terminated Sean Dyche’s contract.

Everton have SACKED Sean Dyche just hours before their FA Cup clash against Peterborough.

The Friedkin Group have decided to relieve Dyche of his duties, with his contract terminated.

Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman will take charge of tonight’s FA Cup third round tie against Peterborough.

A club statement read: “Everton Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as Senior Men’s First Team Manager with  Liverpool’s defeat at Everton

Ian Woan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard and Billy Mercer have also left the Club.

“The process to appoint a new manager is under way and an update will be provided in due course.

“Under-18s Head Coach Leighton Baines and Club Captain Seamus Coleman will take charge of first-team affairs on an interim basis.”

Dyche’s sacking comes off the back of two consecutive Premier League defeats to Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth.

The Toffees are currently 16th in the league, with 17 points on the board, having won just three games from their opening 19 games.

Last season, Dyche kept them in the Premier League despite the club twice being deducted points for breaching the league’s profitability and sustainability rules (PSR).

Everton host Peterborough tonight in the FA Cup before resuming their league campaign next Wednesday against Aston Villa.
