Lee Carsley wants to hold talks with The Friedkin Group as Everton sacked Sean Dyche, according to TEAMtalk.
The news outlet reported on 9 January that the former Three Lions manager is understood to be in the frame to replace Dyche.
Along with him, it’s understood that Paulo Fonseca is also being considered by the Merseyside outfit.
David Moyes seems to be a better fit for Everton than Lee Carsley
David Moyes, who previously managed the club from 2002 to 2013, brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the club’s culture and fanbase, which could be instrumental in navigating the team through its current challenges.
His tenure at Goodison Park was marked by significant achievements, including consistent top-half finishes in the Premier League and competing in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League.
Moyes’ strategic approach, particularly his defensive organisation and counter-attacking style, aligns well with the squad composition and the immediate need for stability and results and he’d be a good short-term option.
While Carsley’s familiarity with the club, being an ex player, and recent success with England’s youth teams are commendable and Fonseca offers an attractive, attacking philosophy, Moyes’s proven track record tips the scales in his favour.
Right now, what is needed at the club is stability and the Scotsman can certainly bring that for the next few months.
The long-term option for The Friedkin Group can be someone else and they can then look to bring him in during the summer.
