Everton are closing in on an agreement with Lyon for forward Ernest Nuamah, according to Santi Aouna.
The Foot Mercato journalist reported via X (11 January) that the 21-year-old is “one step away” from the Blues as the first signing of the David Moyes era appears close.
Nuamah agreed terms to sign on the dotted line at Goodison Park last summer before the player suffered a late change of heart.
Still, developments for a reignited move are moving quickly after Fabrice Hawkins reported on Friday (10 January) that Everton are preparing a fresh offer for the forward.

While the news of an impending signing will undoubtedly spark excitement among the Everton faithful, it is wise to exercise caution.
The Toffees were believed to be the frontrunners to sign another long-term transfer target in Aston Villa’s Jaden Philogene, but the forward is expected to reject advances from Goodison Park for a second time in favour of a £20million move to Ipswich Town (BBC Sport, 9 January).
Kevin Thelwell is habitually returning to previously targeted players, even after said players have said no to a move to the Blues.
Indeed, Everton are desperately crying out for recruits to bolster the frontline and provide extra firepower to one of the worst goal-scoring outfits in the Premier League.
However, when will Thelwell learn from his mistakes?
Nuamah has already given his answer, and while Lyon are in a position to accept a lowball offer after suffering a provisional relegation from Ligue 1 [Fabrizio Romano], that by no means guarantees the answer will be any different this time around.
Furthermore, the Ghanaian international forward has failed to record a single contribution for Lyon this season, matching the efforts of underwhelming loan duo Jesper Lindstrom and Jack Harrison.
Everton need forward players eager to play for the badge and capable of making an immediate impact under David Moyes – Nuamah does not fit the criteria.
