Everton made the surprise announcement on Thursday evening that Dyche had been sacked, just hours before the club took on Peterborough United in the FA Cup.
The actual sack decision wasn’t so surprising, as Dyche had been under major pressure after the shocking defeat to Bournemouth.
But it was more the timing that caught fans off guard.
It was claimed that Dyche had told The Friedkin Group that he’d taken the team as far as he could, and the new owners knew then that it was time to act.

The Daily Mail released an article a few days ago about Dyche’s final days in charge at Goodison Park, and it certainly paints a picture.
Dyche had been fairly defiant when speaking to the media in press conferences and post-match interviews.
But towards the end, he said a few things that didn’t go down well with fans.
After the defeat to Nottingham Forest, Dyche admitted the Everton players did the opposite of what he asked them to. Many felt that this was him throwing them under the bus.
The Daily Mail have suggested Dyche made one comment in particular that left the dressing room shocked.
And that was when Dyche suggested defender Jarrad Branthwaite had come up short in the build-up to David Brooks’ goal for Bournemouth last weekend.
And this comment is said to have ’caused ripples’ in the dressing room.
What Dyche said about Jarrad Branthwaite
Everton lost their last Premier League match 1-0 against Bournemouth, with David Brooks the goalscorer.
After the game, Dyche suggested that Branthwaite might have done better.
He said: “The lad put in a decent cross and then Jarrad ducks out the way of it going in the goal. He’ll only know why he did that, but at the end of the day, we can’t just complain about the referee.”

Following this comment, and general results and performances, it’s claimed by the Daily Mail that there was just ‘a sense of disengagement from several players, who had grown increasingly weary of Dyche’.
With such claims, it is easy to see why TFG felt they could no longer keep Dyche in place, despite having initially backed him.
The new owners deserve credit for acting quickly and decisively upon realising the situation was untenable, and hopefully, the appointment of Moyes will prove to be the right one.
