Everton v Liverpool: New date revealed for Merseyside derby clash

Everton will face Liverpool in the rearranged Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on 12 February at 7:30pm, according to Sky Sports.

The platform revealed the news via its website (13 January), following the initial postponement of the clash from 7 December due to adverse weather caused by Storm Darragh.

The newly arranged derby is set to be the last of its kind at Goodison, and will definitely be the final league meeting between the two old rivals.

Everton v Liverpool set for February

Of many memorable Merseyside derbies at Goodison Park, this will live a lifetime for Everton supporters as it will be the last league meeting between the cross-city adversaries at the old home.

December’s postponement means the duo have each played a game fewer than the rest of the Premier League, which is taken into account in each club’s respective fights for survival and the league title.

The two are yet to meet this season – Everton will travel to Anfield on 2 April for the reverse fixture, with David Moyes heading across Stanley Park for the first time in over 11 years as Toffees boss.

Of course, there remains a slim chance that this will not be the last derby at Goodison, with both sides having progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup; Everton will host AFC Bournemouth, while Liverpool travel to Plymouth Argyle for a place in the last 16.

But now fans can mark 12 February in their diaries for when the years are rolled back once again, and blue meets red in front of the Gwladys Street End.
