Newcastle wiped the floor with Manchester United at the weekend as the Magpies won 4-1 against Ruben Amorim’s side.
Newcastle were incredible against the Red Devils on the day, and perhaps the standout performer in the team was Sandro Tonali.

Tonali earned huge praise after the game, and speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, Ian Wright has hailed the Italian for his performance at the weekend.
Indeed, Wright says that he didn’t actually realise how good of a player Tonali was until he saw him play against Manchester United at the weekend.

Ian Wright didn’t realise how good Sandro Tonali was
Wright spoke about Tonali and how incredible he was on Sunday.
The Italian had a standout performance against United, and Wright has now seen the light and has realised just how good this young man is.
“Yeah, when you look at like Tonali coming in, we didn’t see him how we’re seeing him now. I didn’t realise, he’s 24, I didn’t realise he was this good as good as he is, his defensive work, his energy up and down, him and Bruno. If you can add like a Declan Rice kind of energy to that with them two, you can see that alongside someone like Isak, it’s somewhere you would want to go to. I thought Tonali was outstanding,” Wright said.
Sandro Tonali stats vs Manchester United
Wright says he realised how good Tonali is after his performance vs Manchester United, and it has to be said that this was a standout showing.
Other Newcastle players often take the spotlight – Alexander Isak has earned huge praise this season, while Bruno Guimaraes often gets plenty of credit.
However, Tonali has perhaps been Newcastle’s best player since the turn of the year, and his performance on Sunday was utterly brilliant.

Tonali’s goal will be the big talking point, but the Italian ran this game as he had the highest pass completion rate of any Newcastle starter, while his two interceptions were key in quelling any chance of a fightback from Manchester United.
Tonali was incredible against Newcastle, and he deserves all of the praise that comes his way.
