James Maddison is unlikely to shed a tear when Daniel Levy finally pulls the trigger on Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham tenure.
Postecoglou is under growing pressure at Tottenham following yet another Premier League defeat this season, this time losing 2-0 to European chasers Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday 16 March.
The defeat leaves Spurs stranded in 14th place in the league table, 19 points closer to the relegation zone than they are leaders Liverpool with nine matches left to play.
With a measly 48 per cent win-rate, the managers dubbed as failures, Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte boast better records during their time in North London, and so too does Nuno Espirito Santo.
Injuries have certainly played a part in such a poor campaign, but with Postecoglou’s decisions and tactical changes on the pitch also under scrutiny, it is difficult not to judge the manager.

One of the manager’s most confusing decisions this season has been his failure to utilise midfield star James Maddison properly, having only started him in 17 league matches so far.
Despite this, the 28-year-old has notched nine goals and five assists when called upon, leaving Gary Lineker baffled as to why Postecoglou continues to overlook the player, among others
Man United legend Roy Keane has taken swipes at the snubbed player before, but there seems to be more behind the curtains that the majority of supporters are desperate to understand.
Even with Dejan Kulusevski injured for Tottenham, the former Celtic boss has sought alternative solutions, clearly ones which have not paid off, leaving supporters angrier now more than ever.
That is exactly why Maddison will be holding his breath until Levy finally decides to pull the rug from underneath the struggling figure, which could be rather soon if the fan fury continues.
Ange Postecoglou on the brink of losing job in North London
According to Matt Law, via The Telegraph [17 March], Fulham’s Marco Silva and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola are leading candidates to replace the Australian if Spurs are forced into a change.
While there have been suggestions that Postecoglou will be sacked, even if the Europa League title is not brought back to North London, Maddison will be praying for the right decision to be made for his career.
Either of the aforementioned managers would likely be able to unleash the former Leicester City man to his fullest potential, but as long as the current manager is in charge, he will likely continue to suffer on the bench.
Maddison does have more of a chance to start in the Europa League, and with important upcoming quarter-final clashes against Frankfurt, he has a brilliant chance to show why Postecoglou has been missing for large parts of the campaign in the time they have left together at Spurs.
