Everton are likely to make multiple signings in the January transfer window following the return of David Moyes as manager, Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers has said.
The 61-year-old returned to the Toffees last week after more than 11 years away, taking charge following the sacking of Sean Dyche as manager.
Moyes will now be tasked with keeping the club in the Premier League, with the Merseyside outfit currently 16th in the table, one point clear of the relegation zone.
With the transfer window now open, it seems as though Everton are keen to back their returning manager to give him the best possible chance of succeeding with that task.
After being asked on X if the club are close to signing anyone, Myers responded by saying: “Not sure about ‘close’ but certainly work being done”.
The reporter did however admit he would “be shocked” if any were completed before Moyes’ first game back in charge, against Aston Villa on Wednesday night (15 January).

When asked if the club were looking to sign multiple players or just one, Myers added: “I’d expect a few by February”.
On the issue of position Everton will be looking to strengthen in, the Sky Sports journalist concluded by stating: “Definitely strikers/wingers”.

It does feel like a no-brainer that the Toffees are looking to strengthen in those particular positions in the transfer market.
Goals have been especially hard to come by for Everton this season with just 15 in the Premier League. Only bottom side Southampton (12) have found the net less frequently.
As a result if they are going to get out of trouble finding a source of goals before the window closes to get them the wins they need to stay out of trouble does seem vital.
The Friedkin Group have acted decisively and quickly since completing their takeover of the club last month, and that would be backed up again if they make multiple signings in January.
That would show they are serious and ready to put their money where their mouth is in order to help bring success to Everton.
As a result if they can get those signings done it is another move that should help them to win the support of the Toffees fanbase.
