Mohammed Kudus gushed over after what ‘fantastic’ West Ham ace did v Fulham

Mohammed Kudus was “fantastic” in the build-up before West Ham doubled their lead against Fulham on Tuesday, Jobi McAnuff said.

The 24-year-old winger played an important role in Tomas Soucek’s goal on 14 January, pushing Marco Silva’s side back before passing the ball onto his Hammers teammate to create the chance.

Graham Potter’s side slow start was no longer a problem as a two-goal lead emerged at the London Stadium, with Alex Iwobi scoring twice and Lucas Paqueta once in the second half in a 3-2 thriller.

Speaking live via Sky Sports News [14 January, 8:05pm], McAnuff said: “West Ham got a real boost from that [Carlos Soler’s goal]. Kudus is fantastic, as he normally is.

“He dribbles and takes on that back four before working it to Soler on the left-hand side. The switch finds Wan-Bissaka, who puts the ball across to Soucek, who finishes really, really well.”

Mohammed Kudus plays vital role in West Ham win v Fulham

Kudus has experienced an incredibly quiet season for his usual standards, only notching three goals and one assist so far, but he clearly plays a more important role than just goal contributions.

Potter raised some eyebrows after replacing the Ghanaian with Danny Ings after just 71 minutes, though that proved to be a smart choice as the striker’s closing down helped Paqueta to score the Hammers’ third.

The winger has been continuously linked with a move away from the London Stadium, which could certainly be messing with his mindset, but he continues to be an important player for the Hammers.

With Jarrod Bowen still working his way back to full fitness, Niclas Fullkrug suffering a new setback, and Crysencio Summerville unavailable, it was vital that he stepped up at the London Stadium.

It was certainly not an easy performance from the Irons, with Fulham grabbing two goals of their own, but the display was just enough to secure all three points at home.
