Everton fans were frustrated by the performance with Dominic Calvert-Lewin missing a golden opportunity late on to seal a draw.
It will now be a quick turnaround for Moyes as his Everton side will need to prepare for their game against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
But for Amadou Onana, it marked a final return to Goodison Park ahead of Everton’s move over the summer.

In his return to Merseyside, Onana was fortunate not to have been sent off for a second yellow card.
Referee Sam Barrott was slammed for his decision not the send the Belgian off, which could have tipped the game on its head.
However, taking to his Instagram account after the game, the midfielder posted a classy message as he enjoyed his final trip to Goodison.
‘One last dance at Goodison Park with a massive win. Amazing support from the away end as always,’ the Belgian said.
Onana has been praised after joining Villa as he has shone under Emery in the Premier League and Champions League.
Although some fans may have been delighted to see Everton bring in £50m for the 23-year-old last summer, his Instagram message showed real class.
Onana showed Everton what they are missing
Everton’s biggest issue remains finding the back of the net with just 15 goals now scored across their 20 Premier League games.
Moyes commented on Calvert-Lewin’s performance after the game, but he also saw his midfielders struggle against Onana.
Although he may have been fortunate to remain on the pitch, Onana proved worthy of his £50m price tag with a classy display.

Some Everton fans have criticised Onana for some of the comments he has made since leaving the club.
But his social media post on Wednesday night did show a real touch of class from the midfielder following his Everton exit last year.
