Moyes could have started his tenure with a point against Villa had Dominic Calvert-Lewin not squandered a golden opportunity to equalise late on.
However, the striker’s dreadful form in front of goal prevailed.
After starting the game from the bench, Moyes is said to have angered Beto who is subject to serious transfer interest from Serie A.
The Portuguese striker has been by no means prolific this season but he has to be worthy of a start given Calvert-Lewin’s entire situation.
Everton are still keen to hand Calvert-Lewin a new deal despite the dreadful form he has shown in recent years.
Abdoulaye Doucoure is not earning his spot in the side
Another player who is failing to prove his worth in the starting XI is Abdoulaye Doucoure, who joined for £20m.
Everton fans expected Doucoure to shine under Moyes but that was not the case on Wednesday night against Villa.

This could see Iliman Ndiaye tucked in through the centre with Jesper Lindstrom and Jack Harrison options on the wing.
What was interesting in the game against Peterborough United was Ashley Young coming on and playing in an advanced role on the right.
Replacing Nathan Patterson at right-wing-back, the 39-year-old could prove a real wild card for Moyes to play at right-wing if he is to really mix things up.

The Scotsman really impressed in the game against Peterborough last week which Moyes will have had a keen eye on.
Seamus Coleman admitted he could leave the club in the summer and Young’s contract is also set to run out.
Everton need a long-term solution in the position, and Patterson could push for an Everton exit if he does not get handed an opportunity soon.
The Scottish right-back – who Dyche hailed ‘tremendous’ – could provide a real attacking threat down the right which Everton are desperate for with crosses needing to be put into the box.
