Jamie Carragher has blasted Everton ace Dominic Calvert-Lewin for a “really poor” moment in their Premier League clash against Tottenham on Sunday.
The attacker may have opened up the scoring for the Toffees but that didn’t stop the ex-Liverpool man from slamming the attacker for his poor touch and finish when he went one-on-one with Antonin Kinsky after 25 minutes.
Speaking live on Sky Sports Premier League (19 January, 14:25pm), Carragher shared his thoughts on the striker’s actions.
“I mean the touch, the finish was really poor, the defensive line for Tottenham was absolutely unbelievable. I mean what are they doing?” He said.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin cannot fall back into his old ways for Everton
From the moment that the game kicked off, it was clear that Calvert-Lewin seemed to have a new-found fire in his belly.
The 2024/25 season has been tough for Everton with the Toffees often being deemed one of the worst teams in the Premier League.
While they may not be in the bottom three places in the top flight, it feels like they should be doing an awful lot better than what they are.
Of course, they don’t have the best team in the top flight but with the talent they have among their ranks, they should at least be away from the relegation battle.
Last season was arguably one of the toughest in the Merseyside outfit’s history due to their two separate point deductions for two breaches of the Premier League’s PSR rules.
So, the fact they seem to be in a worse place now than what they were last season, shows how poor they’ve been.
If Everton want to keep their Premier League status, they need Calvert-Lewin to continue firing and not mess up easy chances, as he has done for most of the season thus far.
