Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-1 defeat to Everton yesterday was a dismal display from the North London club, and one player who had a day to forget was young defender Radu Dragusin.
The Romanian center-back was given a start by manager Ange Postecoglou, but he failed to impress. His defending was described as “unacceptable” by Sky Sports pundit Michael Dawson, and it’s hard to argue with that assessment.
Dragusin’s performance was marred by mistakes and lapses in concentration. He struggled to cope with the physicality and pace of Everton’s attack, and his distribution from the back was often wayward.
The 20-year-old’s woes were compounded when he was substituted at halftime, a clear indication that his performance wasn’t up to par. It was a tough outing for the young defender, and one that he’ll hope to learn from.
While Dragusin’s display was undoubtedly poor, it’s worth noting that Spurs were missing several key players due to injury. However, that’s no excuse for the level of performance displayed by the team, and particularly by Dragusin.
As Spurs look to bounce back from this defeat, Dragusin will be hoping to put this performance behind him and prove himself as a reliable defender. However, for now, his display against Everton will be remembered as one of the low points of the season.
