Willian is unlikely to join Everton this month despite the club showing an initial interest in the free-agent’s availability.
This is according to former Man United and West Ham scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that he would be “shocked” to see that move take place before 3 February.
Brown, who worked closely with David Moyes during his time at West Ham, explained that the boss is looking for players who can make an immediate impact on his squad.
Willian, 36, has been without a club since leaving Olympiacos at the start of the month and made just three starts in his 11 appearances during his time in Greece.
He spent last season at Fulham, where he made 31 Premier League appearances, scored four goals and provided two assists before leaving as he could not agree terms on a new contract.
However, he has struggled for game time since leaving West London and has suffered with injury issues, raising concerns about his fitness.

While his availability on a free transfer is thought to appeal to Everton given their financial situation, they have now turned their attention to alternative options.

At 36 years old, any deal for Willian would likely be a short-term offer, but he is expected to command a hefty wage packet which saw Fulham let him leave on a free.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, explained that the Brazilian is unlikely to make the move to Goodison Park this month despite the initial interest.
“I wouldn’t expect that one to happen,” he told Football Insider.
“They may well have looked at him, you always do when there’s a high-profile player available for free and especially with their finances.
“Wherever he’s been, he’s done well. He did well at Fulham last season.
“But then he left, and you have to ask why. He was well-suited there, London-based, playing well, and they wanted to keep him.
“I think, ultimately, it came down to money and the wages he is asking for.
“So for him to now be without a club, and he’s hardly played since leaving Fulham, that’s not done him any good – particularly at 36.
“Moysey needs players who are going to make an immediate impact, but he’ll take a good few weeks to get back up to full fitness before he can get in the team.
“So I’d be very surprised to see that one happen.”
