David Moyes shares just how close Everton are to securing their first January signing
Everton are making their trip down to the south coast on the back of their impressive victory last weekend against Tottenham Hotspur.
However, it is not all positive for David Moyes as he is still yet to see his squad bolstered with any January signings.
Moyes is expecting two signings to be made at Everton this month but the clock is certainly ticking.
It has not been an easy market to operate in across the Premier League with transfer business limited so far this month.
The 60-year-old has now shared just how close Everton may well be to securing their first signing of the winter window.
Last week, Moyes admitted Everton are looking to sign Ernest Nuamah, but it seems not a great deal has progressed since then.
A number of names have been linked with a potential move to Goodison Park over the last few days.
And speaking from Finch Farm on Friday, Moyes has shared another update on Everton’s transfer plans.
“Overall, I’m still pretty hopeful we will make some additions before the end of the window, that’s for sure,” said Moyes.
“You never want to promise it but I’m quite confident we will get something done before then.”
Although Everton are yet to make any additions, Moyes has sent Kevin Thelwell to watch Harrison Armstrong in FA Youth Cup action.
The 60-year-old will want to see new faces land over the coming week or so, but the display against Spurs will certainly provide him with a lot of confidence.
Everton can ease relegation worries with Brighton victory
Paul Merson expects Brighton to beat Everton heavily on Saturday despite their recent record at the Amex Stadium.
The game on the south coast will provide Everton with the opportunity to pull seven points clear of the relegation zone.

Of course, they are coming up against a Brighton side who are in a good run of form, but the result against the Seagulls could really change the mood around the club.
Thelwell and Moyes are working on their transfer targets, but offering a player a club who are seven points clear of the drop could prove an easier sell this month.
