Everton are planning to cash in on Beto and bring in a replacement striker before the transfer window closes on 3 February.
That is according to former Man United, West Ham and Sunderland scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the striker is not seen as a valuable part of David Moyes’ squad.
This comes after Football Insider revealed that the Toffees are looking to offload the 26-year-old this month to boost Moyes’ transfer kitty.
Brown explained that Beto’s departure would also free up space in the squad for an incoming signing, with the club eyeing a new striker this month.
The striker has made 16 senior appearances so far this season, but just four of those have come from the start as he remains below Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the pecking order.
This is despite the Englishman’s struggles in front of goal – raising questions about Beto’s ability and status in the squad both under Sean Dyche and Moyes.

As a result, should the opportunity arise for Everton to make money from his sale, Brown has insisted they will be open to his departure.

Brown told Football Insider in November that Everton are working on a deal to sign a new striker in the January transfer window after struggling in front of goal.
Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted that the sale of Beto will help their advances towards landing a new option.
“Yes, I think they’d like to move him on before the end of the window,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s okay as a squad player for them, but he’s not going to solve any of their problems.
“It’s also questionable whether his performances have been good enough when he’s come off the bench.
“Calvert-Lewin hasn’t exactly been in the best form this season, but he’s keeping Beto out of the team – that in itself raises questions about his place in the squad.
“We know they’ve been looking at signing a new striker as well, so where does that put him?

“I think if they can move him on for a decent fee it would allow them to bring in another option because there will be space in the squad and money from his move.”
