Brian Brobbey transfer: Late window update emerges from Everton

Everton are not interested in Ajax forward Brian Brobbey in the winter transfer window, according to Alan Myers.

The Sky Sports journalist revealed on his personal X account (26 January) that he has “not heard” about the Toffees pushing for the 22-year-old striker.

De Telegraaf had reported earlier (24 January) that the Dutch youngster had been spotted in London, and the Blues wanted to make a move for him.

Everton should stay away from Brian Brobbey transfer from Ajax

It would be prudent of the Merseyside outfit to avoid signing Brobbey, considering his dip in form over the last few years.

The 22-year-old was seen as one of the most promising prospects a few years back, but his stock tumbled after an underwhelming spell at RB Leipzig.

As the Netherlands international returned to Ajax from Germany, he seemed to be returning to his best, but the striker has scored just three goals in 29 appearances this season.

The Toffees can’t afford to take a gamble on a profligate striker before the 3 February deadline as they look to avoid relegation.

Everton will evidently be without Dominic Calvert-Lewin after he picked up an injury in the 1-0 win over Brighton on Saturday (25 January).

Armando Broja is also unavailable and is set to miss a considerable chunk of the campaign due to his knock.

David Moyes is left with Beto as his lone natural number nine, but the Guinean ace will need to step up if the Blues hope to consistently score goals.

While the Merseyside outfit undoubtedly need reinforcements up front, Brobbey doesn’t seem like the right option for them.
