Everton are now predicted to finish 16th in the Premier League table come the end of the season following their 1-0 victory against Brighton, according to Opta Analyst.

The Toffees picked up another crucial three points against the Seagulls on Saturday (25 January) courtesy of an Iliman Ndiaye penalty, which took them within one point of Tottenham.

It leaves Everton in 16th, seven points above the drop zone, and that is where they are expected to remain via the latest predictions by Opta’s supercomputer [27 January].

The Merseysiders are projected to hit 41 points by the end of the campaign, which would see them 12 points clear of the bottom three.
Survival the aim for Everton this season

While there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic about the future on Merseyside, the short-term goal simply has to be to avoid the drop. As things stand, Everton are making a real attempt at doing just that.

Since the appointment of David Moyes, the Toffees have looked far more capable in games and showcased a clear identity, something that was lacking under the stewardship of Sean Dyche.

As soon as safety is achieved, the Toffees can start to plan for the future, and with the right methods and planning in place, it can certainly be a successful one with Moyes at the helm.

Recruitment will play a big part in that, though, not just in the coming week but also over the next six months or so, with several players linked with moves away while the need for reinforcement is still evident.

Things are certainly improving at Goodison Park and long may that continue.

In other Everton news, Toffees officials were in attendance to watch a potential striker target at the weekend.
