There has been a significant update on Tottenham Hotspur’s rumoured pursuit of Bayern Munich youngster Mathys Tel, with Spurs insider Paul O Keefe providing one reason why a late deal might be difficult to pull off for the Lilywhites.
Ange Postecoglou and the Tottenham fans have been waiting since the start of the window for the club to bring an attacker through the door to try and alleviate the team’s injury issues.
However, the Lilywhites have not been able to bring any outfield players through the door so far, although various reports continue to indicate that they are determined to add a forward to their squad before the window closes on February 3.
Earlier today, it was revealed that Tottenham are turning their attention to Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel, and a new update has now emerged regarding the transfer pursuit.
Mathys Tel has shown plenty of promise since his switch to the Allianz Arena in 2022, with the versatile forward having scored 16 times and provided seven assists for the German giants so far.
The 19-year-old has found game time hard to come by this season and Spurs are now showing late interest in the securing the services of the teenager.
However, Paul O Keefe has now downplayed Tottenham’s chances of securing a deal for Tel by revealing that the France Under-21 international prefers to move to Old Trafford.

Tel is an excellent fit for Tottenham, with his engine, pacy, and versatility making him very similar to Randal Kolo Muani, although the former is much less experienced than his compatriot.
He also fits in with the age profile that Spurs are targeting and with Wilson Odobert still out injured, the Bayern man would be able to plug an important gap in the squad by bringing an ability to run with the ball and take players on.
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can convince the teenager to snub Man Utd in favour of a switch to N17.
