Everton manager David Moyes has lifted the lid on the challenges he faced during the January transfer window, revealing a management crisis that limited his ability to bring in new players.
In an honest and candid interview, Moyes explained that despite his best efforts, he was unable to sanction more signings due to internal issues at the club.
“To be honest, there were some things going on behind the scenes that made it difficult for us to do business,” Moyes said. “It’s not something I can go into too much detail about, but suffice it to say that it was a challenging window for us.”
Moyes hinted that the issues were related to the club’s ownership and financial situation, which has been a subject of speculation among fans and pundits in recent months.
“Let’s just say that there were some… disagreements about the direction of the club and how we should be allocating our resources,” Moyes said diplomatically. “It’s not something that I can control, but it did make it harder for us to get the players we wanted.”
Despite the challenges, Moyes expressed his satisfaction with the one signing the club did manage to make, Carlos Alcaraz, and hinted that the Argentine midfielder could be a key player for the Toffees in the second half of the season.
“Carlos is a top-class player, and we’re delighted to have him on board,” Moyes said. “He’s got a lot of quality and will definitely add something to our team.”
Moyes also reassured fans that despite the difficulties in the transfer window, the club is working hard to resolve its internal issues and move forward in a positive direction.
“We’re doing everything we can to get things back on track,” Moyes said. “It’s not going to be easy, but we’re committed to making it work and getting the best possible results for the club.”
