Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on arguably the biggest signing of transfer deadline day with Mathys Tel nearing a switch to N17.
Tottenham fans have had to be patient following their early January move for Antonin Kinsky, but they’re set to finish the window with a flourish.
On Sunday, Spurs announced the arrival of Kevin Danso on loan from Lens, and Mathys Tel is set to follow suit on deadline day.
It is understood that Tottenham have managed to negotiate a summer option to buy Tel in the loan agreement with Bayern Munich.
Now, Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge has shared what he’s expecting from Tottenham in wake of Tel’s seemingly imminent arrival at N17.

Mathys Tel likely to be Tottenham’s last signing of the winter transfer window
Bridge has claimed that Tel is “highly likely” to be the final signing Tottenham make before the transfer window shuts.
The journalist also said Tottenham had been working to also bring in a new defender, but he reckons they’re now out of time.
“Mathys Tel is highly likely to be Tottenham Hotspur’s final senior signing of the winter window,” Bridge said on Sky Sports News.
“He’s expected to sign on loan from Bayern Munich with an option to buy.
“Kevin Danso arrived from Lens on Saturday night while Antonin Kinsky has enjoyed an impressive start after his transfer from Slavia Prague.
“Spurs have been working to bring in another defender after Danso, but time appears to have run out.
“They had a significant bid rejected for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi over the weekend. Reports suggested it was worth up to £70million.”
Which defenders Tottenham have targeted alongside Danso
Danso is a quality signing for Tottenham, but Spurs could really do with another addition at the back due to Radu Dragusin’s ACL injury.
Tottenham were in for Chelsea’s Axel Disasi, but Disasi is now set to join Aston Villa instead, while Crystal Palace rejected Spurs’ bid for Guehi.
Ko Itakura has also been also on Spurs’ radar, but Fabrizio Romano has described a deadline day move for Itakura as ‘complicated’ for Spurs to pull off.
“Alternative to Disasi? Tottenham tried for many defenders,” he said. “For example, I can tell you that a player they like is for sure Ko Itakura at Borussia Monchengladbach.
“But, it is another complicated deal because Borussia cannot find a replacement.
“So there are several options they have been considering. Let’s see if Tottenham find the right one before the end of the deadline.”
