Eddie Howe provided an injury update on Joelinton ahead of the crucial Carabao Cup clash against Arsenal.
Earlier this week, Newcastle fans spotted Joelinton in a knee brace after the midfielder shared some family photos online.

Newcastle are 90 minutes away from reaching Wembley for the second time under Eddie Howe with the Magpies currently leading the tie 2-0 after the first leg.
Injury concerns heightened when Joelinton was not spotted in Newcastle training. During the defeat against Fulham, Howe revealed that Joelinton was ‘struggling’ with a knee problem.

Joelinton faces late fitness test for Arsenal clash
While Joelinton’s knee brace suggests a potential major injury, Howe’s update on Tuesday morning suggests the Brazilian is still in contention to feature.
During his pre-match press conference, Howe said: “Joey was, after the game, put in a knee brace just as a precaution and is out of that now.
“We’ll assess how he is with this game and I would say he is a doubt but we will give him every chance to be fit.”
Joelinton has started every available game this season so it would be a huge blow if he was ruled out of the Arsenal clash.
In the first leg, Joelinton impressed against Arsenal after playing the full 90 minutes at The Emirates.
Newcastle’s squad has been weakened over the past month with both Miguel Almiron and Lloyd Kelly leaving the club.
Thankfully, though, central midfield is Newcastle’s strongest position according to Howe. The Magpies boss has named three players who could step in and start against Arsenal if Joelinton is ruled unfit.
Howe said: “Our centre midfield, we have good strength in depth in that position currently.

Howe has favoured a midfield three of Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Joelinton this season, with the latter usually playing on the left of the trio.
Newcastle fans fumed at Willock for his performance against Fulham last time out, but he could be handed an opportunity to shine against his former club on Wednesday evening.
