Nigeria are reportedly considering trying to convince Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy to switch to represent them ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Shields Gazette reporter Dominic Scurr states the Super Eagles are exploring the possibility of Murphy playing international football for them.
The former Norwich City man has enjoyed an excellent season as part of the Toon’s first-choice front three.
He has scored five times and provided nine assists and helped Newcastle make the Carabao Cup final.
The 29-year-old can still represent England at senior level, having been born in Wembley.
But he is yet to receive his senior call-up.
Thomas, you know what to do.
Former Watford striker Troy Deeney wants to see more from Thomas Tuchel as England manager.
The Times reported yesterday that the German is performing a hybrid role, being allowed to spend a lot of time in his home country with his family.
As a result, he has missed a lot of weekends in which he could have been watching clubs play.
And Deeney wants to see more.
Speaking on talkSPORT Breakfast, he said:”What are we trying to do? He still hasn’t come out and told us how we are going to play, who we are going to build the team around.
“He was announced near the back end of last year, and we haven’t heard a press conference, where he says, ‘I plan to win the World Cup by doing X’.
“I would just like to see the England manager doing a little bit of work.
“A lot of this is about how does it look, and it doesn’t look great if none of us know what is going on.”
